The EPA and feds are claiming bacteria is causing the lesions on fish and people. This is incorrect, the corexit, is causing these lesions basically chemically burning people and marine species. Bacteria would start from one point and spread in mass. They would not pin point several different points. This is the EPA trying to cover its decision to allow corexit dispersants in the Gulf waters. The EPA pre approved corexit 9527 over my objections approximately 20 years ago, and have gotten away with allowing its use until this spill. This spill has exposed the toxic nature of Exxons corexit products. These lesions have been seen in Alaska during the Valdez spill, and now the Gulf. Its a pathetic attempt to deflect responsibility.
The government is openly embracing synthetic biology. That means they will suppress negative consequences from the that technology as they do from nuclear technology.
